Could someone help me? Will it cause problems to stop the CPU from using the program? Real Player isn't even being used right now. It shows realevent.exe under Processes in Task Manager, but under Applications, Internet Explorer is the only thing running.

Thank you!

You should be able to disable that.

My policy is, if it's made by RealNetworks, get the hell out of my startup!

(actually my policy is, if its made by RealNetworks, stay away from my computer altogether!)

LOL. Well I deleted the WHOLE program, but now I can't find the site that has a version for download that doesn't require payment: www.realone.com offers to sell realone but doesn't offer a version freely. Mediaplayer kinda does the same job but has some audio issues on occasion.

Thanks for the help man!

If you really want Real Player, go to www.real.com. It'll take you a while to find and get to the free version, but it's there.

I think you can find the lost city of atlantis before you can find realplayer 8 basic (the last almost-good version, thats free and has really no spyware if you just make sure you disable certain items during install)

Thanks to google:
http://proforma.real.com/real/player/blackjack.html

That site has all old versions of real products, realplayer8 should be at

http://proforma.real.com/real/player/blackjack.html?platform2=Windows%20NT4.0%20/%2098%20/%20ME%20/%20XP%20/%202000&product=RealPlayer%208&proc=pent&lang=en&show_list=0&help_file_dl=true

this url might get messed up so just use the first URL and click "RealPlayer 8" under the "Other Options" section
