here is my MB information (I dont know the model number)

Motherboard ID 11/26/2002-SiS651-P4S533VX
Bus Type Intel NetBurst
Real Clock 133 MHz (QDR)
Effective Clock 533 MHz
Bandwidth 4266 MB/s
Bus Type SiS MuTIOL
Bus Width 16-bit

Here is the Pentium 4 I would like to buy

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819116172

Would this be a good upgrade, and is it compatable with the motherboard i have. What specific MB properties are required for a cpu?

Thanks

No that processor would not work in that board.
Your board has base FSB 133 quad pumped = 533.
The processor you've selected needs base FSB 200 quad pumped = 800 effective clock speed.

The processor you've selected is socket 478. Is the board? I don't know.
You need to find and read your motherboard manual. Does the board support HTT? What is the fastest P4 processor with 533 clock rating?

I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

Your questions are going beyond my level of expertise. Since you are dealing with a proprietary (name brand) system here there may be other compatibility issues to consider such as case configuration and powersupply connection differences. I do not know whether any of those things apply to Sony systems. In other brand name boxes they are critical factors. If you are going to upgrade your motherboard/CPU you may also need new RAM, a different powersupply and better graphics. Starting to look like you may be better off selling the current rig as-is and buying/building a whole new unit.

I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.
