In windows it's usually your chipset monitor. Mine is an AliMagic1 so I installed "AliHW monitor" meaning ali hardware monitor. This will tell case temp, cpu temp, cpu vio & a few other facts about chipset. Sis & Via have their own hardware utility monitors on web sites

your mb driver cd will usually have a cpu temp program on it

what are your hw specs, if you are on n older system, temp may not even be an issue? you can check the temp in the bios as well.

There are a number of shareware programs to do this but it depends if your mainboard has sensors on it for CPU temperature. BIOS is a good start - see if it has a PC Health Status screen.
