I have this Toshiba Tecra 8000 Windows XP 128 RAM 6 GB Hard Drive
This is the problem: Every time I boot the machine the CPU will show different speed. Some times it says 120 MHZ, 128 MHZ, 139 MHZ when in fact the CPU is a Pentium II 266 MHZ.

had a tecra 8000 too. had the same problem. xp said some crazy stuff about the cpu speed (i had a 366mhz) but it never seemed to be running slower. i now have a tecra 8100 and the same thing happens, this is a 650mhz and it often times reports it as a 250mhz. it not only happens on my laptops but on my comcrack desktop too. it has a 475mhz and it reports it as all kinds of crazily slow speeds (even 66mhz). i dont know what exactly xp's problem is, maybe something to do with micro$oft_max_effieciency registry key.
