Ok i know this is a typical problem and ive dealt with it many times but this time i can't. Every so often my PC just starts to run at 100% and when i look at the list of processes nothing is running at 100%. Occasionaly taskmgr will flash 99% and so will svhost. XP pretty much comes to a stop even after closing down any programs being used.

Is there anything i can do to find out whats causing this problem?

Svchost.exe is a valid process, SVHOST.exe is definitely not. Check your PC for infection.

go to housecall.trendmicro.com and let it do its magic. It cleans what Norton and Mcafee cannot.
