i'm trying to find out how to go about locating my cpu number-i'm running windows 2002 xp home----i'm not reinstalling windows--i'd just like to find out what the heck the number is and where to find it----thanks

As far as the number goes, you may have to open up your computer and look at the printing that is on top of the CPU chip.

For type and speed of the CPU:

Right click My Computer,
then Properties.
