CPU Load high

IEXPLORE SYSTEM PROGRAM is taking up 83% of my CPU Load I think this is the problem and my system is not working right. Please help, Thank you, Casey

IExplore.exe is Internet Explorer. I just checked on this system (Duron 1.0gig 384meg RAM) and Internet Explorer 6.0 most of the time takes up less than 5 percent CPU load, but spikes to as high as 45 percent as it loads a webpage (rapidly decreases to less than 5 percent after the webpage loads.) If you are at a version higher than the one that originally came with your operating system (ie: OS came with IE 5.5 and you are running IE 6.0) I would suggest trying uninstalling your current version, rebooting and then reinstalling the current version. As an alternative or if you are using the version that came with your OS you could just download/install the latest version.

Note: That last example (less than 5 percent) was running Windows 2000. My XP system is busy at the moment.

For how long is it taking up 83%? A few seconds at obvious moments of use are normal.

Im dealing with this problem as well. Also a prog called realsched.exe appears in my task manager occasionally and hogs CPU, too.

Casey, does the CPU use spike when you scroll in IE?

I really think this is an (as of yet) unnamed virus.

Check:
Start\Settings\Control Panel\System\Hardware Tab\ Device Manager

Look at the display adapter. Is it enabled? If not, you are having the same problem I am. There seems to be a virus that affects the display adapter on each bootup.

It is annoying but choosing the update option to reinstall the drivers will allow you to do use 3D applications again, and fixes the "choppiness" of Iexplore and other scrolling apps.

NOTE: The virus seems to install a bogus graphics driver. When you choose UPDATE, tell it
>>"install from a specific list or location.
>>"dont search, I will choose the driver to install"

BE SURE to choose a driver that is digitally signed. Any unsigned drivers listed are bogus.

So far, I havent suffered from the choppiness associated with using the CPU to drive images.

Cross your fingers. Im going to try and find a antivirus utility that can kill this thing.
