OS: XP Pro
CPU/Ram: P3/800, 256

normally my comp runs @ 3-10% cpu usage and the system idle proccesses are at between 95-99 today iexplore.exe is running at 95 system idle is at 00 and my cpu usage is permanently at 100%,help, whats going on?, any help will be greatly appreciated

You've been infected with ad/spy ware by the sounds of it. D/load Ad-aware and run an in depth scan of your registry and drives, removing everything it finds.

Oh, and be sure to update it before you run it.

Thanks hooner, I do feel a prat, done all that, everything ok now, I had used Autoroute this morning, but didn`t take the disc out, for some reason when I had finished using it and shut it down the cpu remained at 100% use, thanks for the advice tho, all good again

Ive had the exact same problem, yes indeed it is spyware, that intergrates itself in iexplore.exe hence the 100% cpu usage. However ad-aware wont remove this. You need to download a specific remover to eliminate this problem, in google simply search for CWSHREDDER. Download this program and run it, reebot ur system, and problem sloved :D
