My frames per second in CS seems to be stuck at a rate of 60 FPS. I have looked into the console commands like max_fps, lan_fps, and modem_fps. I cannot find a solution. My friend, who runs a rig that doesn't meet up to my specs, gets a frame rate of 100 FPS. I would like to get a higher rate than 60 FPS. How should I go about doing this??

My system:
ASUS A7V133 Mobo
1.3 Ghz AMD T-Bird
384 MB PC133 RAM
80 GB RAID 0 (2x 40 GB 7200 RPM ATA100 IDE) (CS is installed on the RAID)
30 GB IDE 7200 RPM ATA66 (Windows XP Pro)
40 GB IDE 7200 RPM ATA66 (Windows ME & Win 2k pro)
10/100 NIC (connected through router to cable modem)
Sound Blaster Live! Platinum w/ Live!Drive
ASUS v7700 Pure (GeForce2 GTS 32 MB DDR RAM)

I run CS at 1024 x 768 and 16 bpp color depth assuming it runs at desktop color depth. I have tried it in all the above OSs. I believe that is all that might make a difference in CS. Any tips on possible increased frame rates?

Thanks,
Big D

Lowering the resolution will help. You might not like the picture size, but a lower resolution is easier to process than a higher one. Give it a try anyways.

I believe it's an issue of NVIDIA geforce cards with Windows 2000 kernel. XP is based on Windows 2000, and I think they set the default max refresh rate to 60fps.

Here's a link to a website that has a program that can "tweak" the default max refresh rate to whatever u want. it works for all the resolutions provided your monitor and card support it.

well...if this doesn't work, then I really don't know. hope it helps.

Click into your display settings and onto the "opengl" tab. Where it says "vertical sync" and it is on by default, just turn it off.

That will boost your frames to 100 for sure.....

ps.. CS RULZZZ!!!!!!

IT WORKED!!! I run at a steady 100 FPS now...thanks!!

The patch file worked well bringing it to 85 FPS, but disabling vsync made the most difference and jumped it up to the max. =)

Thanks again,
Big D
