Corrupted files

OS: WinXP home
CPU/Ram: amd1211mhz

Every time I download anytype of file be it shareware, freeware or a program someone sent me it says file is corrupted or something about whatever the file is the Win32 is not a valid application if I have sent it to my recieved files folder. Also my windows explorer keeps crashing.

Put your XP CD into your CDROM drive and close it out if it auto launches. Then click on Start/Run and type the following:

scf /scannow

And click ok.

In addition to Dave's advice, do a full system scan with an AV software such as Norton Anti-virus or McAfee Anti-virus, download and run Lavasoft's Ad-aware, Spybot Search & Destroy, spyware blaster and CWShredder.

This should take care of any viruses and spyware which may be causing this.
