Hello,
Recently whenever I try to open msconfig i get the "System Configuration Utility has encountered a problem and needs to close" with the option of sending an error report to Microsoft (which I've done a few times)
Is it safe to just copy the file from the Windows CD, or will I need to re-install it somehow.

It should be completley safe to just copy the msconfig file across from the cd. On another machine of mine I had the same problem and I just downloaded the msconfig file from a website.
Regards Alex.

The CD was copied to your harddrive during installation.
Check out this folder: C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache
