recovery cd not working. computer is Persario SR1500NX. had corrupt files, would not recover from hard drive or CDs. Used retail copy WinXP to recover files, now have retail copy on hard drive. Would like to install original copy of WinXP and associated drivers from recovery CDs and restore computer to original condition. Currently computer functions with retail copy of WinXP.
Any suggestion?
Thank you

The retail copy of XP is better than the HP/Compaq copy because is doesn't contain all the HP bundled crapware. Plus any drivers on the Recovery disc are as old as the PC. I suggest you keep the retail copy installed & just bring everything up to date. For what it's worth, here's the HP drivers, looks like most are about 6-8 yrs old:
The above assumes you have been able to register that copy of WinXP. If it is in use on another computer you can't.
I agree with riider, use the XP CD, make sure you delete ALL partitions & then use your product number.
