Correct way to Format Drive C

Yes before I venture into this I would like the advice of those who know . Is going into start-my computer-R click-Properties-clicking on format The correct way to format the Drive C on my computer?? and if so could someone walk me thru what Im about to expect after I click on it? I have the re-install disk that came with my Dell computer when I purchased it to re-install WindowsXP that is what I should do after the format right boot off the disk?? and will this same disk work if I decide to upgrade to say about an 80GB or 120GB HD?? Thanks so much for anyone who sheds some light on this subject in advance I'll be waiting for your reply!! Bill

yes it will work just use windows xp boot disc cd and boot it off and you should be able to manage your parition, format from there

u can also format your hard drive by going to the start menu, run, and type command into the box there and it will display a screen in dos mode, u then type format c: just like that, then it will say warning and a message and say yes this will format your c drive and use the same partion. this is the way i format my computers. Travis

Really if you have no idea what you are talking about you should not reply to posts.
You CANNOT format C:\ from within Windows and the command will NOT allow you to do so. You must format using a 98 boot-disk, a programme like Partition Magic or if you have the XP install disk you can format from there. In your case it is safer to use the XP disk.
