What version do you have? Is the CD copyrighted? Does it do it on all cd's or just a few?

Try Upgrading to Windows Media Player 9 if you do not already have it. If you do have WMP 9, go by what the previous person suggested.

Download Winamp (free). Use it and you shouldn't have a problem. MediaPlayer is very quirky.

No, no, no...

Use the free, fully-functional, open source program CDex. I use it and it's an amazing piece of software.

Don't screw around with WMA files, this will allow you to create high bitrate MP3s using the Lame engine. Also, don't worry about copyrights if you own the CD. If you don't own it, well then it's up to you ;)
