Comment:

Page 48 of the Partition Magic 8.0 user guide states I can make an exact duplicate of a partition (a-la mirror/ghost). My goal is to have a bootable duplicate of my C Drive for backup. I've done this but it won't boot. When using PM I set the new partition size the same as one being copied, made it primary and un-hidden, then even used Boot Magic to set it as my "new" C Drive.

Am I wrong in my assumption that this should be bootable? If not--I'd love some suggestions. (I don't own Synantec Ghost)

Thanks

hello
it will only become bootable when you use it to copy it over top of the drive you made image from.
if there is a option to burn image to cd you could than install this onto the partion you wanted to have it on and it would be bootable. but unless the drive you made the copy from was ether hidden or removed upon reboot you will have sever problems as both of the exact same o/s try to boot at same time. it will at minimum destroy the registry.
i beleave pm has a move option to not copy but move the whole o/s to anther partion. read its help over i,ve not used that option.
