Hello

I have windows xp in my computer and have just installed linux so now I have both on the same hdd. If I make a backup of my system with ghost will it copy everything (both operating systems in there now) or would it work if only xp was in there (whole hdd for xp)???????

Just wanted to make sure before I buy ghost or before I mess anything up.

Thanks

I would think Ghost would only back up XP. Ghost is designed for INTEL systems. When XP boots up, it does not see Linux, therefore, neither would Ghost.

I disagree. If you use the disk clone function of ghost it will create an exact image of the hdd. This is for hdd to hdd.

per is right, disk cloning makes an exact copy of a HDD, that includes everything on it

You have a choice in many versions of what you wish to backup. Rememember that you also need to know about the MBR and/or Bootloader area.
Ghost 10 is for ONLY xp/2000 but includes Ghost 2003 in the retail box.
Go to the symantec site and view the demo's. They are geared for windows but you can also view the online doc's to see how to do more. Both versions need updates after install.

Ghost is mostly geared for businesses/power users but is quite a life saver for me. Be sure you have any special drivers.

I suggest the DOS version. It is 3 times as fast and more reliable.

ghost.exe (ghost for real old DOS or from a DOS bootable diskette) and ghost32.exe (XP ghost for virtual DOS box) clone linux partitions or HD without not problem.

There is nothing better yet.
