My hard drive crashed in my Dell Dimensions. It was only 6 months old. It would not allow me to restart in Safe Mode so that I could back up data. I was told I could access and copy the data in DOS. Can anyone tell me how to do this? I'm not a computer expert.

Depending on you Operating system, getting into dos is a bit different.
But lets just assume you are booting off a floppy disk.
after you boot up you should be at a "A:" prompt or "C:" in some cases.
here are some DOS commands:
CD = change directory
example: c:cd windows = C:\windowswhen you get into the directory where your data is you can then use the copy command
c:\windows\ copy myfile.txt a:\backup
that will back up the text file myfile to the a drive.
Pretty easy stuff, you shouldnt have a hard time with it, hardest thing for you will be to dig thru the hard drive finding what is important to you.
Good Luck.
You can also search the web for more dos commands if you need.
