Converting Sata drives to dynamic

Hi, please help with this problem. For some reason, I am unable to convert from Basic to Dynamic in Windows XP Pro. The option to convert is not even there. I have one Sata 80GB Drive (system drive) and two 200Gb Sata Maxtor 10 drives. I want to convert the two 200Gb drives to dynamic and use them for striping. It's really frustrating that the option to convert to Dynamic is no where to be seen. Can anyone help please? The Motherboard is an Intel 925X and the PC is made by Dell. Also, will I get the full capacity to stripe (i.e 400Gb)? Thank You!

I am assuming that you are trying to use the windows OS to create this stripe since you have mentioned no Raid Card, On-board Raid or 3rd partry software.
In Windows XP you can only create a stripe between two disk if the following conditions are true:
1) Both drives are NTFS 2) Both drives have unallocated Space.
I am guessing that one of those two might be your issue?

Go to Administrative Tools > Computer Management and in the help files search for "Manage dynamic volumes". This should give you enough information to troubleshoot and set up a striped set of dynamic drives. And yes if you stripe you should have 100% of both drives available (or the full 400 Gigs). You only start losing storage when you add in redundancy options like mirroring, raid 5, or any combination thereof.
