You can use WinAmp to convert Midi to Wav and then convert to MP3. Just do the following:
In Winamp try this...

Setting MIDI plug-in
1. Ctrl+P (for preferences)
2. Plug-ins > Input
3. Nullsoft MIDI player
4. Configure button
5. Device tab
6. under the Device: drop-down list select "Direct Music / Microsoft Synthesizer (with output)"
7. close & restart Winamp (just to be sure setting takes hold)

Load the MIDI file(s) you want to convert. Play one of the files to be sure it plays correctly.

Set the Disk Writer plug-in
1. Ctrl+P (for preferences)
2. Plug-ins > Output
3. Nullsoft Disk Writer plug-in
4. Configure button
5. set the Output directory: to a folder/directory of your choice
6. close out of preferences

Now "play" the MIDI file(s) you want to convert. The music will not be heard during the conversion process. When finished, be sure to change back to your regular output plug-in (DirectSound or waveOut) before loading and playing the converted file(s).

Use an audio converter such as DbPowerAmp music converter for Wav to Mp3. Both WinAmp and DbPower are free downloads. WinAmp does a fine job of conversion. I've used WgPlayer, AStudio (both that have to be purchased) and they don't compare with WinAmp.
