here's another question: having XP pro installed on NTFS file system and wanna reinstall XP on FAT 32 file system without doing any partition on the HDD.......what do i have to do. sometimes u read on the net that it is impossible to convert it from ntfs to fat and actually doing the reinstall with booting/setup disks gives you no option to format your drive into fat-system, but i saw it being done by some specialist who was ones reinstalling xp pro on my former computer and i can remember that i was surprised that he could do it. he explained it very fast but was so in hurry and busy with other customers, that i didn't ask for a further explanation. and finally he talked in korean, what made this little conversation more difficult. no here i am on a forum with computerfreaks and i hope that somebody might know the answer

Just boot with the XP cdrom, and start installing. At a time you can choose to format you Xp partitie, with NTFS or FAT.

hi greetz, u misunderstood......i have installed my xp on my computer and on some other computer alot of times. having once the ntfs version installed on your harddrive you don't get the option to format your drive in fat. it simply not appearing on your setupscreen. only by deviding your drive in several partition you get the offer to format the new created partition in fat or ntfs. even i tried to cheat the setup by first creating the partition and than after formating it with fat by deleting it again what brought me back to th unpartitioned drive which is only formatable in ntfs. no change.......there is some other way. and this way i want to know. so.......
