Hello, all.

I have been having absolutely no problems with my laptop - it's been working solid for me. However, last night, out of boredom, I checked out the Event Log, and much to my surprise, I saw many "disk" errors, and the message said:

The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk1\D.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/even...

I'm not sure what to do, because my laptop's been working well, and there's no indication of hard drive failure, plus I did a SMART checkup and everything reports back fine.

I'm worried and not sure what to do...there are many of those errors... about 20 in the past month. =/

Thanks for your help!

Andrew

Do you have one HD or two? The error indicates Drive D which typically is the second hard drive.

Find out what type of drive is in your computer and go to the manufactures web site. There you will find diagnostic tools which will check your drive and let you know if there are any errors on it.

Hi terii,

I have one master hard drive in my computer - however, it is split in two partitions - one for the OS itself, and the second for data.

The OS is C:\ - the data is D:\.

In any event I would run more diagnostic tests on the entire drive. The event log is reporting a problem so something is happening any now you have to find out what. As I said above, find out the make and model of HD in your computer and get the diagnostic software from the manufacturer.

I did. I did a chkdsk /r on the D:\ drive (and plan to do one on C:\ tonight while I sleep, too). However, my hard drive appears to be a Toshiba MK8026GAX, and I don't see a HD diagnostic on Toshiba's website anywhere. Do you know if they have one, and I just overlooked it?

Thanks.

I have been having the same b/s erros for awhile. I have went throught 3 HDD's and still the same problem. they give me a new hd and reload the software (acer) and then say its ok and passed there test. then wham the errors start. I get 9's 11's (lots) and 51's... any ideas? I have a MK1032GAX. I am not sure but after almost 2 months of work, I think it might have something to do with using my external USB 2.0 hdd when I first got it? idk... anyone help. I am willing to try almost anything.
