Reece, SWAG, I assume you've cleaned the machine and no longer have any nasties. Can you simply restore to a time prior?

Sounds like you haven't completely removed the viruses. How did you go about it? Can you boot into safe mode? Did you run full virus & malware scans? Have you checked for a rootkit? They are able to hide themselves & are undetectable by normal virus/malware scans. Some will install in the bootsector which is NOT scanned by anti-virus programs. It's activated each time you boot, then loads into memory & runs from there. 1st you need to determine whether you have a rootkit or not, then you can figure out how to deal with it.

RootkitRevealer v1.71

You should also try a dedicated Trojan Remover:

Reece, The link below may be of some help.

What registry keys do the Control Panel applets update?
http://windowsitpro.com/article/art...

More possiblities at the search link below.

I'd first try the "CPL File Association Fix" at the link below.

I've had similar problems and this helped:
Click Start/Control Panel/Administrative Tools
Locate Help and Support
Right click this and set it to Automatic and click Start.

If this takes then you should be able to Click Start/Help and Support and get the proper window.

If the above didn't help, let me know. There are other ways to get Help and Support started.

Reece, Go to the link below and click on the "?" to the left of "Why doesn't Help and Support work?" to expand it and you'll find some possible fixes.
