Comment:

My daughter's computer on the Control panel / Display properties, one cannot change the display, even though choices are available.

I can change theme, screen saver etc., but not the display. Any ideas.

I recently gave it a good cleaning from all the junk that she has downloaded. I am sure the two are connected.

thanks

Tom C.

The Display settings should be done by left-clicking on the DeskTop, chosing "Properties" and from there do your changes.

Sorry, I might have been a bit quick here.
You should also be able to do these settings via ControlPanel...

Can you go to <Advanced> settings and se your graphic card under 'Graphic Module' or are you using a default VGA driver for your screen ?

Surely you mean right click on the desktop / choosing properties. Its so confusing at time with all the misimformation here.

To the OP in dispay settings changing the wallpaper is under Desktop.

I have same problem on Dell Latitude laptop (D610)-seem to have downloaded virus or trojan and now the background can only be set to a single color-can not select a default image or my own; the browse button is greyed out (under display properties). can't find info on the virus/trojan: troj_renos.iv

Trend Micro found it but can't clean.
