I noticed that I'm having non stop disk activy from the moment I turn on my computer. Using the Task Manager I can see that lsass.exe is writing every second, not much, just around 3 bytes. But it really bothers me since this didn't happened before, in fact, never before.

Normally this is a first sign of malware or a virus! Besure to clean your system.
All freeware:
spywareblaster
spybot S&D
adawareSE personal
And CcleanerAntiVir for virus protection
Google for them and use them all
****note***
you can use a multiple of malware/spyware utilities and it is best that you don't depend on any single one...but you should only use one anti-virus program and should not have but one installed. In The Matters Of Style,

a RAM upgrade wouldn't do no harm either. 384 MB isn't exactly memory heaven for XP and could very well be a reason for excessive swapping, depending on the amount of processes and services running.
Today's subliminal thought is: 'Calm down ... it's only ones and zeros.'

Had run constant AVG and a-squared scans. Nothing found. I'm currently running spybot s&d.
Indexing server is disabled, although Windows Desktop Search is installed, but I'm sure this is not the problem since this problem appeared a couple of days ago.
Also, I forgot my info. I have 1.25GB ram, so this is not the problem either.

Bumped.
Request for help. No one seems to know what the hell is going on, there is no account of the problem, have checked with HijackThis, A-Squared, Sypbot, nothing, have checked the NTFS ADS, nothing unusual.
I'll have to contact MS then....

Get rid of the Windows Desktop Search. I recently loaded it on my XP SP2 machine and this disk activity began. Drove me nuts with the constant background noise. I have been using Google Desktop search which did not exhibit this problem.
