I am having problems with aol 7.0. when i sign on it says it has encountered a connection to the internet error.
Can someone please help me (in detail) get this fixed.
I have a cable modem and tried to repair it but it came back with and error 711 then an error 5. I do not know what to do at this point. A black box came up and I wasnt sure what I needed to do.
One connection was repaired the other one (which is where I think aol 7.0 is on) wont repair. There are two connections listed in network connections.
Also the IP addresses on both connections are different. Should they be the same? if so, how do I do that?
I am going thru a hub if that makes a difference.
This is what I have done so far... set up a network connection, didnt help, repaired the one connection, and now im stuck.
If there is anyone out there that can help I would much appreciate it.

Thanking you in advance,
Nanette

Aol and Microsoft working together has nothing to do with it. It's been working for years, why a problem now. If you don't have a helpful solution, then don't post.. you waste people's time reading your idle prattle.
you most likely have a winsock2 issue. if you can browse with explorer and your aol won't connect, try removing AOL completely and reinstalling. If you can't browse at all, it's a microsoft problem with your operating system.

Thank you
I have completely uninstalled aol 7.0 and when I put in the new version it is telling me that I have an error connecting to the internet. But AOL 6.0 works perfectly. I really think the problem is this....I have WinXP and did the upgrade....and have had nothing but problems. The first d/l failed and the second d/l is in progress since 9/11/02. Is there any way to remove this? It is not in add/remove. I believe this is the cause of my connection problems with AOL 7.0. Also, in the tools/IE/connection section of Internet explorer....there is nothing listed in the box. I cannot get the dial up to work. Any suggestions?
thanx again,

nanette
