Specs: Windows XP
Hi, first time on this forum so if i post wrong or anything i apologise.
I have recently purchased a HP Compaq nx6120 laptop and would like to wirelessly connect this to a netgear adsl2+modem router. I have tried to figure out how to do this myself and have been unsuccessful. I have no idea how to go about it and any advice would be very much appreciated. Thankyou.

What model netgear router is it? One presumes it is a wireless router. Is the wireless already set up and accessible by other users? Do you have a wired PC already connected to the router? Configuring the wireless is done from a wired PC

It is a Netgear 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL2+Modem Router DG834GU v5. It is a wireless router, connected to my desktop PC. It seems accessible as i have connected my phone to it before. I ran a wireless network wizard on the Desktop computer, which saved the settings for access to a usb, i then plugged the usb into the modem/router as prompted, and then my laptop as prompted. When i plugged it into my laptop though it came up with a message saying that i could not continue as no wireless adapter could be found or the hardware (or possibly software) for it wasn't installed, though i'm sure it is.

The wireless NIC in the laptop may have a manual switch.
Look in network connections in control panel to see if a wireless connection is listed.
