Subject: Connecting up to the internet |
Comment: I have windows XP home and I use Internet Explorer 6 and I connect up to the Internet using Tiscali. Sometimes when I am on the internet it becomes very slow and dose not load up the web pages so I disconnect then try and reconnect but it gets as fare as saying "Verifying user name and password..." then it comes up with this "Unable to establish a connection." “Dialing… the number I connect to comes up here Dialing attempt 1. Dialing... Connected to remote computer. Verifying user name and password... Unable to establish a connection.” But when I come back about half hour or hour later it lets me connect. And when I play my online game “Counter-Strike”, I know that there is something wrong with the connection because it comes up with a “Connection Problem” at the top right hand side and that’s about 20mins play, and it dose the same when I disconnect then try to reconnect. Can any one help me solve this strange problem? Cheers Matthew

Reply: I had a similar problem when i played CS also.I got Broadband cable and i never saw that problem again!!!!! Most likley its 1.Modem, get a high-end modem if its in yur budget, 2.ISP(I had AOL 7.0 & it is terrible when playing CS so use 6.0 found at CNET.COM, 7.0 runs a bunch of s--- in the background making playing almost impossible). If your somewhat a computer geek, you can tweak your settings for the game in the console when dropped.Go to Counter-Strike.net to find some tweaking guides. But better yet, GET BROADBAND.Its brought my playing skills to a new level :) I hope this helps because i couldn't go on w/out my CS!!!! E-mail me if you have any questions.
