Hi
When I connect to the LAN of an internet cafe, my system tray shows a 100MBps connection, but when I try and surf the net using internet explorer, it cant find a net connection. Why is this?

Answer really depends upon how the cafe's LAN and internet connection is setup. Have you asked them? You, of course, have to enable an internet connection on your notebook.

When you go to the command prompt and type iconfig /release (space before slash) and then ipconfig /renew, what message(s)do you get?

I am having exactly the same problem. when I try iconfig.... I get no message at all, a window pops up but there is nothing in it. There is no change with explorer - still no connection found. I'm trying this from a university building but it's not the only place I've had this problem so I don't think it is their connection. My LAN conncetion show up enabled in network connections. I can't think of anything else to try - anyone got any ideas? Thanks
