please help me! i have 2 xp comps. i am on xp2 typing this. my xp1 will not connect.i have seperate phoneline fof comp( telephone on different line) if i cut this compxp2 off and plug in comp xp1 it will not connect. error message says "Line Is Busy". everything is set up same in both comp.no one has been able to fix this, i even put comp in shop. had comp smart people come to my home. no fix!

Sounds like you have a configuration issue with your modem or a hardware issue with it would be my guess with the info you provided.

Please provide us with some detailed information, Like what type of connection are you trying to connect to, Dial Up, DSL, Cable, High Speed, Wireless.. What type of modem or are you using a router. The specifics would help.. If it's dial up sometimes you have to wait for a short time before you can connect with a second computer after disconnecting from another one and with dial up you can not connect with both at the same time nor with more than one computer, I know that you said you have two separate phone lines but both of those that run into your house are part of the same phone line because in actuality there is only a single phone line that is connected to your house, my brother worked for the phone company and even with two phone numbers at your house they only connect a single line that runs both phones.. Believe it or not it's a true fact..

Well I talked to my brother seems you can connect two computers at the same time with dial up but you need two different dial up accounts and it would be really slow, it's bad enough with just the one computer connected through dial up.
