HI there,
We just sold a customer a new computer loaded with XP Professional and we are having trouble getting it to log in to a domain - If I set it up as a workgroup it works fine but as soon as I try setup for domains it says
"Your computer could not be joined to the domain because the following error has occurred: an internal error has occured"
This is after I type in an admin user/pass to validate the new machine - if i type anything random for the pass I get invalid username/pass (this tells me my password is correct and this error is not due to an incorrect password) .

Is it an NT 4 domain? Take a look at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;318266
I was able to register an XP client on an NT 4 domain by making the change in the support article, however subsequently found that it was slow copying large files or accessing large network shares on NT 4 and ME machines on the network. I still haven't got a solution to this prob.
