Can anyone explain this odd problem? I’ve set up a dual boot with Win Xp and Win 98 on one drive, and i also added a second hard drive with no OS on it, just formatted to FAT 32.

When i boot into Win XP, the drive configuration is C:Win98, D:Win XP, E:Extra Drive, F:CD Rom, G:CD Rom. All ok.

However if i boot through Win 98, the sequence is C: Win 98, D:Extra Drive, E:Win XP, F:CD Rom, G:CD Rom.

Can anyone explain why the letters get jumbled up. All the drives are in FAT32 format. I dont to go installing programs like GoBack across two different OS, when the drive letters get mixed up like this.

Thanks for any help

Yes, Win XP reads the drives exactly as they are set-up and installed, whereas earlier versions translate the drives to a "logical" order. Personally, I prefer reality as XP gives it to you.
