At my friends home his web browsing has always been slow however his downloads are at full speed. Now his sisters computer browsing is instant.

Right now we are having a LAN party at his house. With two additional computers. My other friends computer browsing runs smoothing while mine is also slow.

Now let me remind you the downloads are quick, so if we are downloading a movie or something it's getting a high transfer rate.

The system before the LAN party was running on a Linksys switch from an old Netopia 3000 modem/router in one.

Now during the LAN party it's a Linksys wireless G router.

I tried running the browsers through a proxy, no help. All the computers connection settings are on automatic.

Also we are using both IE and Firefox.

Thank you in advance.

And by slow, I mean 15 seconds to load google.com. And even longer for other websites.

Have you tried switching the cat cables around? Is it possible you got one with a bad spot in it?

if yours is the only slow PC, have you done all your updated spyware scans? I run both the same components you are and all my PC's browsers open immediately.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

My computer never had a problem with browser at my home. But when I over at my friends house who also has a slow browser problem with one of his three computers, the problem now is on my computer. It can't be the ethernet cables since two computers are wireless and one has the problem while the other is normal.

Still can't get the darn slow browsers quicker. It can't be a physical connection problem as the transfer rate of downloads is normal. The settings on the browser are the same as the normal speed computer's browser. Why the speed is different stumps me.

Please, anyone help.

Bump again. I have tried almost everything. It's making no sense why it's slow.
