Posting this in Windows XP forum since it's more dominant on my XP system.

I have read that a lot of the slow issues with the NEW (not beta) Internet Explorer 8 are coming from users that have Spybot installed on their system. What is the truth to this matter?

Reason I ask... I have Spybot on both my XP (tower) and Vista home premium (laptop) systems; and with Vista home premium... internet explorer 8 with Spybot works fine, but with XP... IE8 is very slow to open and use tabs.

So what gives with using Spybot with IE8, or does it all come down to what windows version your using in order for IE8 to work properly?

Yeah there is a bug with IE8 and Spybot S&D, but all you have to do is de-immunize it.

So all you need to do is open spybot, click on the Immunize tab, then click Undo. That should fix the speed problems.

Gamer126,
I understand how to de-immunize Spybot.
but, you didn't fully answer my question...
why is this issue more relevant in XP than Vista since I have Spybot on both and only notice the slow down in XP?

Maybe you haven't immunized the one on vista, if you have then I don't know. Mine was really slow before I de-immunized it and im using vista.

both Spybot programs are immunized, but the slow down is only in XP for me.

I did as requested and now it is working fine. Could anyone tell me if there is anything in IE8 that I have to enable so that I have the same protection that I had with Spybot, or does IE8 do this on it's own? Just wondering if I need to enable anything to have the same protection?
