First of all, i have made the suggestion previously and would appreciate others contacting computing.net with the same recommendation, that is to have threads that have had responces, moved to the top of the page.Other forums use this and makes following active threads much easier. And if this had been implemented, i wouldn't have created this thread. But i found out the source of a conflict i had with not being able to run chdk at startup or even boot into safemode and wanted to share this with anyone experiencing similiar issues.A false positive by "Spyware Doctor" which trashed a program and led to it's removal, revealed "Spyware Doctor" to be the culprit.Just thought you would appreciate the update.

It's nothing new. It has been suggested many times in the past. Below is our discussion regarding this idea.

Thanks for that thread XpUser. But posting my findings of the source of the conflict i was having, would do no benefit to anyone posting it in my original thread a few months ago.God knows what page it's on and my guess is no one would see it with computing.net's present thread layout.I was trying to hopefully help others, not myself.

I completely understand what you meant but I think I should defer any further comments to Justin Weber (CN Web Master & Wizard). I hope he see this thread & reply accordingly.

Happy Computing :-)

Hello,

Your findings would do benefit. Most people find this site through search engine queries. They are led directly to threads, and do not know or care where they appear on the message list.

Beyond that, the system needs to work one way. Even if it did both, there would be a default way the system would work. Some people like the most active threads bumped, some people don't. If the system bumped the threads, you would see postings asking why messages moved down the list so fast. Unfortunately, I cannot please everyone. I had to choose a way for the system to work. Based upon my analysis, I like this way better. Its just a matter of preference.

Thanks for responding Justin.I guess there are pros and cons both ways and everyone has a preference. In the case of the info i wanted to share today, bumping would definitely work the best i think you would agree.Anyways, all i ask is the that you revist the decision on the current setup and if it's stays the same, i will live with it.Thanks again.

Yes ham30, people in general get comfortable with the way things are and don't like "change".It's a scary word to alot of us.I've been on some forums where the current setup just isn't working anymore e.g.- so many different topics included in one section and extremely difficult to follow.I made a "few suggestions" and was almost run out of town. The regulars didn't want to change but it was obvious to any new visitors that the setup was chaotic.Anyways, the decision is not in my hands so therefore have to live with the setup.

We are not averse to change. People have suggested several changes and Justin has graciously made them. But not all changes actually improve things and I would not like to see your suggestion adopted, sorry. :-)

Everyone is allowed an opinion and i respect that but just one question for you.If you were experiencing the same difficulties i was and i 'm sure some others have, and having a hard time figuring it out, and i posted my findings in my original thread, would you or any else have found it with the present thread setup?.I doubt it.This is the only point i was trying to make.I felt my findings would be useful to others and my only recourse was to begin another thread which would of been unnecessary under a different setup. If you and most of the others feel doing what i did today is okay, then that's fine with me.

There is a search facility at the top right corner of each CN page that can be used to find previously posted fixes.

Now it's my turn to say something once Justin has spoken.

I for one prefer the way it is now.

Why?

We get an average of 20-30 new threads in a 24-hour period (counting those that gets ditched for violating CN Terms & Rules of Posting). It will be hard & tiredsome to catch the new threads because the old ones (with new posts) pushes them down deep south & to the next page.

I prefer to read the new threads before I read the old ones (something different, you know :-))

I'm all for change, but this forum does not need changing. Leave it as it is Justin.
