Today my computer all of sudden came to a standstill whilst I was working in a couple of programs (IE and Musicmach I think). I decided it was time for a restart. On startup, the computer seemed to stop loading when it reached the blue "please wait starting windows" screen. After a few mins, my desktop gradually appeared but i was unable to open any files and/or run any programmes. The taskbar at the bottom of the screen was not accesible either. Shutdown also took well over 10 mins.

After trying to solve the problem by running Xp home cd, the problem still existed and i unsuccessfully tried to do a system restore through safe mode. I do not have any error messages, just a very very slow system that wont do anything! :(

Has anyone had this experience or is anyone familiar with the symptoms?

Any help is welcomed.

The first thing to do:
Run a virus scanner
Run a spyware scanner
Run a Trojan scanner

if 3 of program said came in CLEAN reports.

you might have a hard drive too much clogged, you can defrag the hard drives.
Start/Program/Accessories/System Tools and click defragments and run it.
