When i put my computer into standby or it goes into standby by itself, I cant get it to wake up from standby at all, no matter what I do with the mouse or keyboard! I have to hold down the power button and let the computer shut itself off then turn it back on.... Does anyone know how to remedy this problem? Is it a problem seen with compaq computers?

Is this a laptop or desktop? If a desktop then I suggest you change power settings to "Never" and prevent the unit from going into standby or hibernation. If a laptop then give details of the model and perhaps someone familiar with it can answer. Other options would include reading the operator's manual but we would normally presume you've done that, or visit the HP/Compaq website to check out any online support FAQs etc.
I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

On my PC, all my Power settings are set at never, as I leave my PC on all the time (for defragging purposes mostly as I do alot of editing)and I also make sure there is no checkmark for enable hibernation.
If you have a laptop, your settings would be different if you use it on battery power.Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Hello.
I assume you use the correct method for your PC to wake it up from standby.
Do you have SP2 installed ? If not, install it if it will not break any other programs or drivers on your PC. SP2 resolves most such issues.
Then see if you can wake up from standby now.
If not, uninstall and re-install VGA drivers, using the latest release.
If the above does not resolve your standby issue, check for a BIOS update.
