Hi This Happened A Few Months Ago.

When ever i turn my computer off by the plug, When i the turn plug back on and press the computers on button the computer does not boot up. 'nothin' at all happens. its like the CPU is all unplugged. but i assure it its not. the monitor lights are on and modem but not a sqeek from the cpu. I unplugg the power supply on cpu place it back in still nothing. i have to wait around 10-15 minutes after turning the plug on for the computer to turn on, then everything is fine. its all ok if i just turn off computer and not tounch the plug socket, only when i turn the plug socket off.

please please help as i want to sell this computer to get a new one and cant sell it like that although its a very quick smooth runner for me.

Thanks please help
kyle

Not to be facetious, but why don't you just leave it plugged in; and power it down by the on/off button?

also it may be a bigger problem appearing as it never done it before.

i am using the on/off button and shutdown with no problem, but if electric goes then i have to wait to get him back on.

You're crashing the hard drive(s) everytime you hank out the plug or turn off the obviuosly switched outlet. I have xp home and xp pro on two different machines and both have the turn off and restart in the same manner.
click the start button at the bottom left of the screen. Then select turn off computer. Then the box pops up letting you select either> stand by or turn off or restart.
If you don't have these selections then some one had been dinking with your computer and should be shot. Run the recovery console from the xp disc and let it fix what ever has been screwed around with. Or like it was stated you can hold down the power button for 4 seconds and let it do a soft shutdown.
But if I was looking at your system to buy it I wouldn't give it a second look unless it was working correctly from the software.

I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid...

No!!

sorry if i explained wrong.

i am starting up and shutting down the computer fine.
i never ever turn the computer off by plugs or switches without shutting the system down properly!!

the problem is wen the computer is shut down and i take the plug out of the wall socket or switch it to off. When i then plug it back in or turn it on i go to power up my computer and it dont power up straight away i have to wait around 15minutes before it will turn on. i have to keep trying to turn in out using its normal power button.

i never turn the computer off manually by the plug or front button. its just a problem wen turning the system on after the plug has been taken out the wall socket whilst the computer is off.

thanks

Hi Kyle12345,

How old is the PC. I had a similar problem a few days ago---The only way for me to turn on one of my PC was to unplug the power cord, then plug it back in.

Using the on/off switch did nothing.

I had to replace the power supply to correct the problem.

You might want to check the power supply.---Just a thought.

Good luck.

Why do you have to unplug the computer ??
Seems to me that your problem would be fixed, if
you left it plugged in.
Some computers start up as soon as you plug them
in.

Hi i have taken case off my computer and located that when i take power cable from computer and place it back in, there is a buzzing sound coming from a black round thing above the battery with a whole in it. it buzzes for around 10 minutes then when the buzzing stops i press the computer on button and hey presto! i have a MS6390 mobo.
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=80&MODEL=MS-6390 look here at my mobo picture and look above the round battery to the left slightly, at a black round thing with whole in it.

This makes a buzzing noise weneva u unplug the computer by the socket after shut down, then plug it back in. The computer will not turn on until the buzzing sound from this black thing has stopped. any ideas please!!
thanks

You have motherboard damage most likely due to a power surge. Sure sounds like a good time to toss that board out and upgrade it. MSI has several good boards that work with your cpu. At least going that route instead of dumping it off on a poor slob you could sleep at night.

I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid...
