Comment:

When i try to shutdown my computer i press the turn off computer button on the start menu, then press the turn off button on the next window. Then absolutely nothing happens. At the moment i am shutting it down by switching user and then turning it off in that window.

I also can not access the windows update page as it says i need to be logged in as an administator. So i then tryed to create an administator account in user accounts but that then comes up with an error message of "wrong number of arguements or invalid property assignment".

This all seems to have happened when i removed kazaa and installed kazaa lite, but i also removed msn messenger and reinstalled that at the same time as i was having problems with that.

cheers, ive already had a long look through most of these before i posted the message. Is there any way of creating an administator account without using user accounts? i think that i may be able to fix the problem if i can get a windows update.

hey JOE,

are you saying that there is no pre-existing user on your pc called ADMINISTRATOR?

that wouldn't be too odd (you have a retail Emachine) but the user that the retailer set up when you bought your machine should have had administrative rights.

I don't think i've ever seen an XP machine that didn't have an administrator account. You can password protect the admin account, but I don't think you can have an XP machine running entirely WITHOUT one.

mystery....

Hi,
There is allways as a minimum 1 administater account on a machine,u cant delete all the accounts.
Try this, logg out of all accounts, then at the log in page hit ctr+alt+del twice (2 times)then a default log in page appears, either type addministrater in as user (with the correct spelling..lol) or delete the user name and leave the password space blank.
hit enter and if there is no passwoed set you will be logged in to the defaullt administrater account, from there creat a new account ...
Good luck .
