Hey, I just hooked up a slave drive to my computer and booted it up. it is not detected in BIOs or Windows XP.
(I want to install Windows ME on the Slave drive, but i cant access it at all. Ive fdisked it, and in DOS i can not format it.)
I NEED HELP

Are you trying to setup a dual boot system? It can be done, but the better method is to have ME installed 1st, then installing XP afterwards.
Are you sure you have the jumper on the slave drive set correctly?? Don't put it on the primary channel with the "main HDD" unless absolutely necessary. It would be much better to have it on the 2ndary channel.
How many IDE devices do you have? I wrote the following in response to another question. These are my recommendations for IDE configuration:
If you only have 2 devices:
primary master = HDD w/OS
primary slave = none
2ndary master = optical drive (reader or burner)
2ndary slave = noneIf you have 3 devices, use either of these:
primary master = HDD w/OS
primary slave = optical drive (reader)
2ndary master = optical drive (burner)
2ndary slave = noneprimary master = HDD w/OS
primary slave = none
2ndary master = optical drive (reader or burner)
2ndary slave = 2nd HDDIf you have 4 devices:
primary master = HDD w/OS
primary slave = optical drive (reader)
2ndary master = optical drive (burner)
2ndary slave = 2nd HDDAsus A7N8X-X

Hey, how do i set primary master, primary slave, 2ndary master,2ndary slave?
the reason i have am Daul OSing the hard drives because i want to install ME on my slave drive so i can take it out and install it into a computer as that computers primary drive. (i am installing the windows ME on a drive to another computer through my computer, because its giving me problems when i boot with a ME cd or Floppy when the hard drive is in master.)
