computer wont read dvd+rw 1-4x disc

i have a cmpaq laptop, my OBGYN made a cd of my ultrasound on a tdk dvd+rw 1-4x disc.for some reason my computer can't pick it up at all. how do i get it to read it? is there something i need to download?

Are you sure that your drive is a DVD drive and not just a CD drive?
