This is a problem that I have just noticed. Midi files won't play on my computer. I have a SoundBlaster 128AWE sound card and a GeForce2 MX400 video card. My mainboard is an ECS L7S7A2. My power supply is 350w. Another problem ive been having is that while playing games on my computer, it will come to a screeching halt and a horrible buzzing noise will come out of the speakers, forcing me to reboot manually. Not sure if its linked at all, or if maybe I have bad RAM or what.

some suggestions;

1. download and install the latest driver for your video card.

2. download and install the latest driver for your sound card from the SoundBlaster Web site:

http://www.soundblaster.com/

3. turn off Hardware Sound Acceleration;
click Start, Run. type: dxdiag
and then click OK.
click the Sound tab, in the DirectX Features pane, drag the Hardware Sound Acceleration Level slider bar all the way to the left (the "No acceleration" setting).
click Exit, and then start the game.

if you can now hear the sounds as expected, repeat these steps and increase the hardware sound acceleration level setting one notch, and try again.
do this until the hardware acceleration setting is as high as possible without corrupting the game sound.

4. update your version of DirectX at:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/downloads/default.asp

5. if problem persists, perform a clean boot to prevent background programs from interfering with game play;
