computer wont load up,

hi, my computer wont load up xp. the montior wont recive a signal and the mouse and keybord dont work. my dad thought it might be the harddisk as i dosnt make any sound (clicking)even though the fan and base unit has power. please help!

Have you added any hardware lately? Did you try unplugging the keyboard and mouse and then try booting? Even if the hard drive is bad you should still see the boot, before it hits the hard drive. Check all your connections.

i managed to get it working...it was realy strange...once we changed the usb cable for the mouse and put it in a differnt usb slot...it worked....i dont no what was wrong but its working fine now. thank you for your help.
