Toshiba laptop Toshiba EQUIUM S 100-147 Model No PSAABE-00800EAV Serial No: Y6087551Q fine when last used but opens and closes from black screen with white lettering.Entered 'boot in safe mode' On bottom of screen it shows a problem with AVG anti virus, so it appears that this is stopping windows from opening. I am not technical minded and urgently need simple to understand advice please. If I have to use recovery disc I will be lost as it got lost while moving house. Any advice would be gratefully received as I cannot afford to pay the huge costs that local technicians are charging for call out etc.
Thank you in advance.

If it indeed says that the AVG has a problem then boot up and then use the safe mode prompt to run the computer. Once you are booted into safemode navigate to the control panel add/remove and uninstall the AVG program. Then reboot and see if it will boot back normally. If it does then reinstall the AVG latest version!

Grateful thanks for responses and advice. I have started up in command prompt and the screen is filled with a list at the bottom of which is AVGRKX86.SYS It will not open to another page and simply goes off and comes on again. I take great care of my laptop, with no music or internet downloads which could harm or overload it. I simply work on one website and use email and banking. Every technican I speak to say they may need a long time to fix it and the prices they quote are astronomical, especially as I live out in the sticks and they need to travel long distance. Your continued advice would be so very much appreciated and thank you in advance.
