computer wifi connection problems

Specs: Windows XP
I have a 3 year old Toshiba Netbook NB100, with Windows XP it connects ok with my Belkin wifi modem router,connected to my phone line. i just purchased a Telstra pre paid Mobile netbook will not connect, it sees the modem I put in the password but it will not connect it just says Acquiring Network address. my friends laptop connect fine & also my husbands the mobile wifi modem is working correctly.

Thanks Ed..but I couldn't see on either one of the sites you suggested an answer to my problem..they were more into network sharing..I just want to be able to connect my netbook to this wifi modem I just paid $99 for while I'm away from home on holidays..the 5 gb they gave me is running out's so annoying because it defies logic..if my netbook connects to my home modem router why won't it connect to this Mobile one?..thanks anyway!
