Computer stops responding

Specs: Windows XP
Hey all. Got a strange one for you here.

I typically leave my computer running all the time. Now recently every 2 days roughly, I am having to restart it because it simply stops responding. When I say stop responding, I mean, I can move the mouse around and click on stuff, but it just gives me one of the default windows error sound effects and doesnt do anything. I can actually bring up the start menu sometimes, but again, nothing will run. Sometimes I can restart it through the start menu, sometimes I have to use the reset button on the front of my machine.

Sometimes I know it is going to act up when I turn on my monitor and there are error messages on the screen. They are almost never the same and vary from MS Outlook errors to generic security errors. I don't even have outlook installed on my computer so i know something wierd is happening.

Anyone have any thoughts at all what may be happening?

Thanks.

Most Virus and Spyware scans are likely to work better in Windows Safe-Mode.

How much RAM memory do you have ????

Computer Speed and Performance May Decrease

When you open, then close programs,
programs may not free up RAM memory.
That is called "Memory Leak".
Restarting computer will clear out its RAM memory.
OR
install more RAM memory.

i have 4GB of RAM in my computer. I use it mostly for gaming.

Anyone know if Ventrillo is a memory hog? That is usually the first thing I turn on when I get online.
