Basically my laptop my friends laptop was playing the ass so he formated and put back on xp and now his system is running EXTREMELY slow. It prolly takes about 45 minutes/1 hour to start up(no exaggeration). When u turn it on the little gray bar takes forever to get to the top and then the screen turns black for a couple mins and u are at the microsoft windows xp screen and then that loads forever . when its finish loading the welcome screen takes for ever. Then when he chooses his account it takes for ever to load. And when u actually try to use applications they take FOREVER to load. Plzzzzzzzz help A.S.A.P

Low ram causes everything to run extremely slow...lol

Possibly a reformat and re-install is in order, seeing that he had just installed you shouldn't lose too much. Was the last install good or were there alot of errors?
You said he put back on XP, did he install overtop of another OS? Like was 98se or ME installed before he reformatted?

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

I'm stumped on that too....it would be different if I could see the behavior of the laptop.
If you did a clean install (fdisk and reformat) then I can't see a reason why the OS is so slow....sorry

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks
