computer sound wont work

Specs: Windows XP
I have these speakers for the computer but i dont know how to get them to give off sound theres a plug for a ipod, mp3 ect attached to them and i plugged it into the pink plug in in the back of the computer tower when i move the cord i hear a static sound but thats it no sound and when i go to volume settings it says theres no volume device thing what do i do ??? the speakers are koss hmd 11

The Pink socket on the Sound card is for a Microphone.
Pink is designated for a Mic.

ok well i tried the other plug ins too the sound still wont work what can i do ?

Do Start,
Run, then type,

sndvol32

TRY ---- click Options, in the Menu Bar,
then Properties, check mark what you want to show in Volume Control.

it says there is no active mixer devises avalible and then when i go to the volume control thing it wont let me click on anything at all no volume nothing
