Is is worth it these so called Registry Clearners
that are supposed to speed up slowed down computers or is it best to reinstall windows and all my programs again. I already defragged hardrive, removed temp files and it still runs slower and freezes a lot more and locks up more than usual requiring a shut down and cold boot.

When was the last time you opened the case can blew out the dust? From what you describe it sounds more like overheating then a bloated registry.

You also did not mention updating /running antivirus/antispyware. This is just as important as disk cleanup and defrag.

Before buying anything, run and antivirus and try taking some programs running in the background off the startup. Manage your startups. Your excess CPU usage is due to too many programs running in the background. You can cut these to barebones by alter your msconfig. Here is how:

1. Open your Start menu.
2. Click Run
3. In the command screen type "msconfig.exe"
4. In the "system configuration utility",click either "service" or "startup" tab
5. Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using.
6. Click "OK"

Aah, the old Windows problem ... re-installing it usually solves this issue, but it creates other ones as well.

You should first check if you have a virus slowing down your computer, you should also have a running firewall, anti-virus, and antispyware i reccomend CA thats what i have in my Vista and it automatically delete's spyware or virus it also include's Personal Firewall,Anti-Spam,Web-Inspector,Parental Control, and Desktop DNA Migrator the thing i mostly like the Web Inspector it tells you if the site may have spyware or virus and or if it is safe to go on. So if your computer is slow i would delete programs you have but you don't use. You should also probably try to find out if it is a program you downloaded that is making it go slow you should try Buying a extra Fan if it's that the Cpu is overheating or try a extra hard drive so that you have more space or a faster Proccessor
