Computer Shuts Down

OS: Windows XP Pro + SP3
CPU/Ram: 2.4 GHZ / 512 MB SD
Product: Dell Dimension 2400

My friend's computer has a problem. She can log on and do some things, but not all things. Her background has changed and her internet connection times out after about 2 minutes. After about ten minutes, the computer gets a BSOD and shuts down. I have told her to run MBAM to no avail. She can quick scann but not full scann without it shutting down. More details later. Any ideas?

A quick scan should be good enough but if you don't want to play with it, do a system restore to a date before the problems started.

She already ran a quick scan, which found a WHOLE lotta stuff that it removed, but didn't fix the problem. What about HJT?

Look in event viewer and see if you find any clues.

Try to narrow it down to when it happens and what you were before it happens.

I'll tell her to run Hijack This and look in the event viewer. Do you want me to post the HJT log? I'll also post anything in red in the event viewer.
