Is this a new problem?

Disable Indexing Services

Indexing services is a small program that hogs HUGE amounts of RAM and can often make a computer endlessly loud and noisy. This system process indexing and updates lists of the files on your system, so you can search for them quickly, but it's completely unnecessary.

Check your power settings.
Control Panel > Power Options > Power Schemes.
If not a Portable/Laptop, set to > Home/Office Desk.
* Turn off monitor: After 15 mins
* Turn off hard disks: Never
* System standby: Never
* System hibernate: Never
Hibernation, reserves disk space equal to your RAM.

Could be overheating.
Take a cover off & clean out the dust, put an external fan on & see if it behaves with the extra cooling. Make sure all the fans ( including the power supply ) are spinning fast.

To add to Johnw's reply an under powered powersupply unit can sometimes cause this to happen (or it has done with me). Most probably a heat problem however seeing as though gaming requires more power thus more heat.

There's always the possibility of your present video card not having the ability to handle intense games like that.
With the very limited info, one cannot tell....
